Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- What do I need to bring on my first visit?
- Who pays for treatment?
- Do I need a referral from my doctor?
- What should I expect on the first visit?
- What should I wear?
- How long is each visit?
- How long will I need Physical Therapy?
On your initial visit, please bring doctors orders
for physical therapy, any applicable insurance
referrals or referral numbers, your insurance card,
and any other appropriate billing information.
In most cases, health insurance will cover your
treatment. During your first visit you will speak
with our patient representative to clarify your
insurance coverage.
In California, you do not need a referral to be evaluated by a physical
therapist. However, in order for a physical therapist to deliver treatment, an
established diagnosis must be obtained from a doctor. If you don't have a
doctor, call us. We work with some the best in the area.
To initiate a program of therapy, the therapist examines the patient. This
includes obtaining a patient history, performing relevant systems reviews, and
selecting and administering specific tests and measurements to obtain data.
All exams are private. Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is recommended. You
may want to wear or bring shorts if we are treating an ankle or knee.
The first visit, the initial evaluation, takes about 30 minutes. Each follow-up
visit will take about an hour.

This is not an easy question to answer. You may need one visit or you may need
several months of treatment depending upon our condition. Your physical
therapist and your doctor will help you decide how long you will be treated.
